Films by Ayesha Farooq | Lahore Screening of SHE; Who Lives & Ismail

Two films. One evening. Many conversations.

The recent Lahore screening of Ayesha Farooq’s Films SHE; Who Lives and Ismail was a reminder of what happens when cinema is experienced together.

Hosted by Datanox, Urdu Digest, and The Asix Films, the event brought together audiences for an evening of storytelling rooted in lived realities of womanhood, class, access, loss, and hope.

SHE; Who Lives centres voices often left unheard, exploring survival and belonging through the lens of women’s lives. Ismail follows a young boy from an underprivileged background who dares to imagine a future beyond the limits imposed on him.
What stayed with us most was the conversation that followed—honest, emotional, and urgent. Stories were shared. Questions were raised. Silences were held.

As we reshare moments from the Lahore screening through this video, we are reminded that films do not end when the credits roll. They continue—in dialogue, in reflection, and in community.
